with Helen Gutfreund
Back by popular demand - our second Cyanotype (AKA sun prints or blueprints) workshop with Hudson Valley Multidisciplinary Artist, Helen Gutfreund! Limited to 10 class participants, this hands-on workshop will provide you with a full demonstration of the process from choosing paper and mixing chemicals, all the way to finished piece so you can see the process before you do it yourself. Also provided will be a brief history of the cyanotype medium, a look at some historical and contemporary use of cyanotype, an overview of the materials used, a materials list for your future reference, and lots of play time after which you will have made two unique cyanotype prints to take home. All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring flat or translucent objects to play with during your artmaking experience. Leaves and flowers are always popular, but you can use anything! No experience is necessary as this is a beginner level workshop, but an interest in learning a new thing and having fun is required.
Helen Gutfreund is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in New Paltz, NY. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University in conjunction with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz.
